Community Involvement

Being involved in the community is part of our belief in what it means to be an attorney. We believe attorneys have a duty to help improve the lives of their clients and their neighbors. We are involved in several organizations and associations and we believe that it is also important to take leadership positions in these organizations.

Former member of the Calhoun County Bar Association - I began the practice of law in Calhoun County (Anniston, Alabama) and was involved with the local Bar Association where I had the opportunity to learn from some great Attorneys and practice in front of some excellent Judges. In Anniston, I gained extensive first hand courtroom experience.

East Highland Memorial Foundation - Board Member - The East Highland Memorial Foundation is involved in revitalization of the community through programming that makes use of historic school property. I spoke at several of the EHMF Financial Empowerment programs and emphasized how legal matters can affect one's financial situation.

Ensley Merchants Association - Vice President - My family has been business owners in the Ensley community of Birmingham for 80+ years. I plan on continuing that tradition for many years to come. Thomas is also assisting the organization as the current Treasurer. We are very active in promoting new business growth in our community.

Former Board Member of Make a Wish Foundation - The Make a Wish Foundation helps grant wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions. A great organization that does an amazing job of helping children.

Alabama Pro Bono Volunteer Lawyer - We make it a point to provide a number of hours of free legal services each year through my involvement with the Alabama State Bar. We find it important to help those in need and have provided help in such areas as drafting wills assisting clients in dispute with insurance companies. We provided countless hours of legal advice to clients displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform Supporter - Alabama is desperately in need of a new constitution. Martin has been involved in efforts to help raise awareness for the need to rewrite our 1901 constitution.
